Overview of Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the South African asset management distribution team and servicing existing and prospective clients across both the intermediary and institutional channel. The candidate will be expected to communicate regularly with investors via email and on the telephone and work closely with investment and client servicing teams based in London and other parts of the globe with a focus on providing first class service to South African investors – the role will be based in Gauteng.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the local distribution team to follow up meetings with relevant information in a timely manner
  • Respond with high priority to enquiries from clients and consultants
  • Collect feedback from investors on investor meetings, presentations and seminars
  • Manage any requests for proposal from prospective investors and ensuring they are completed within deadlines
  • Assist the distribution team in organising investor roadshows, events and presentations
  • Attend leading South African events and conferences
  • Attain a clear understanding of each client’s requirements and offer a first class service designed to anticipate and meet these needs
  • Maintain the compliance records according to regulatory requirements
  • Assist the Country Head with research on strategic initiatives
  • Develop competitor analysis and performance information
  • Ensure that all CRM systems are maintained with up to date client information
  • Keep up to date with new products/investment solutions and regulatory, legal and industry wide developments
  • Keep up-to-date with the competitor landscape and wider market trends across the investment industry
  • Develop a broad knowledge of company funds, performance of markets and insight into macro and micro economic trends
  • Ensure that all South African on-boarding requirements and procedures have been followed correctly e.g. KYC, AML etc
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues across the business
  • Maintain familiarity with relevant aspects of South African regulation, particularly as it affects the distribution of offshore collective investment schemes
  • Able to travel within South Africa

 

Skills/Competencies and experience:

  • A commercial understanding of investment products, branding and positioning such that the role holder can differentiate the company from competitors with existing and prospective clients
  • The ability to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and investment professionals
  • The ability to manage competing and complex priorities
  • Understands the key issues driving the asset management industry from a commercial and regulatory perspective
  • Ability to be directly responsible for managing client requests and providing them with relevant information
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt these to varied environments and client types
  • Graduate degree in finance with at least 3 years relevant experience
