This role is open to all groups in South Africa and could be based in Cape Town or Gauteng – it would suit a young dynamic and well qualified graduate (with relevant degree which is oriented towards the financial markets and/or CFA). The absolute imperative for the successful candidate is that you need to be able to demonstrate an absolute passion for the financial markets. This means that you can talk to senior professionals (CIO’s, Head of Equity Research and Senior Portfolio managers about shares, financial instruments and the macro-economic environment. Furthermore, you may trade your own share portfolio and do your own company analysis to inform your personal investment decisions. Ultimately, your specialist qualifications, academic credentials and “skin-in-the-game” gives you the edge to apply for this role.
The successful incumbent in this role will join an established team of rated analysts.
Responsibilities:
- Full research responsibilities – including company and sector analysis of listed companies on the JSE. Ultimately, the succesful incumbent would develop a sector specialization to focus their endeavours on producing high quality research
- Assimilation and dissemination of broker information, annual reports and company visits
- Involvement in investment team debates
- Presentation of recommendations to the investment team and buy-side clients.
Our client would prefer a candidate who has some relevant working experience (2-3years) which indicates an authentic interest in working as a Sell-side Equity Analyst.
