Our client is a prominent and successful Asset Management company based in Cape Town – this role requires an astutue BEE candidate to fulfill a role of a Financial Accountant for the Company across its different product offerings and subsidiaries. Ideally you will have 5-8 years of post-articles experience gained the financial services industry in a similar type of environment with knowledge and experience of asset management and investments.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Managing the finance team and function ensuring proper process and controls around fees (including performance fees), invoicing, banking, staff claims, credit card reconciliations, payments, petty cash and transaction processing and account allocations. Involves preparation and processing in these different functional areas.
2. Designing and managing of intercompany cost recovery processes and procedures
3. Preparation and reconciliation of appropriate Management Accounting information for the Company and subsidiary companies on a monthly basis and variance analysis against budgets
4. Oversight of subsidiary company regulatory and statutory submissions (e.g. Tax, Regulator, Secretarial)
5. Responsible for Group consolidation and related Annual Financial statements (AFS) preparation. Liaison with external auditors for Group AFS.
6. Monitoring and managing cash and cashflow within the FSCA liquidity and solvency requirements. Including reporting to FSCA via external compliance officer
7. Annual Financial Statement Preparation and overseeing timely completion of annual external audit.
8. Financial Statement Preparation and liaison with the external auditors for the companies Private Equity companies, Partnerships and other SPV vehicles. This process involves various valuations techniques as well as the review of all legal documentation and deal structuring
9. Ensure all tax submissions for Income Tax, Dividend Tax, VAT, PAYE etc. are prepared and submitted. All payments are made on time.
10. Managing supplier contracts to ensure effective accounting and control thereof and to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.
11. Preparation of board and executive committee reports
12. Quarterly review of business unit performance (profit centres) against targets
13. Preparation of annual budget for approval by Board and EXCO. Ongoing Communication and management of budget with business units.
14. Proactive forecasting of profit and cashflow at regular intervals
15. Ensuring that fees are billed and recovered accurately, timeously and in line with client mandates.
16. Assist CFO/COO with implementing adequate internal control and a functional risk environment
17. Provide support with various projects and business initiatives e.g. new fund launches, new legislation, changes to regulatory and tax environments, BEE etc.
18. Assist management with ad hoc information requests
19. Assist with company secretarial work via external Company secretary
20. To assist in any responsibilities that the Managing Director or the Chief Operating Officer may assign

Qualified Chartered Accountant CA(SA)
