Our client is a boutique investment management firm based in Cape Town – they are now looking to employ a skilled Operations Manager. The role holds the responsibility of overseeing the operations function with a keen problem-solving ability, a proactive approach to task completion, and a good understanding of investment operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Streamlining and optimising operational processes and procedures to enhance productivity
- Ensuring daily NAV’s of funds are correct, including reconciliation of positions/ cash
- Cash management
- Overseeing trade and settlement activities
- Maintaining internal portfolio management system (FPM)
- Overseeing monthly MDD and other monthly/ quarterly reporting
- Ensuring accurate fund returns are captured in performance charts and sheets, being able to conduct performance checks with various resources (Bloomberg, Moneymate)
- Assisting business development and portfolio managers with performance slides and attribution charts
- Providing strategic input into operational processes and procedures
- Being the main point of contact at the organisation and thus will involve dealing with client requests (institutional, retail, multi-managers, pension fund clients). Directing clients to the correct team internally or externally(BCI client services)
- Assist in monitoring effective compliance and risk management framework for investment operations as well as dealing with external compliance company to keep company compliant in terms of regulators (FSCA)
- Oversee the management of client service contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance and timely renewals (KYC/ DDQ’s)
- Manage fee calculations and fee invoicing process
- Stay up to date with technological advancements to improve processes
Qualifications and experience:
- Relevant financial / investment qualification (Financial tertiary qualification with honours level is recommended)
- +3 years’ experience in an Asset Management company in operations
- Working knowledge of the investment management environment, role players, manco’s, custodians etc
- Experience in a similar boutique investment manager role would be highly advantageous including working with Maitland/ Apex systems (NXM, Spectra)
