Role Description:

Manage money market and income portfolios in line with the investment philosophy and process, with a focus on delivering on portfolio return objectives. Develop implementable investment strategies that generates alpha and ensures the successful management of money market and income portfolios by analyzing and interpreting global economics, interest bearing markets, derivatives and currencies. Work very closely with all role players to ensure cash is invested optimally between the constraints of sufficient liquidity and maximum returns across the portfolio range.

Keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in the financial markets, inclusive of the fixed interest, credit and forex markets, to enhance efficiencies within the team and research processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The key objective is to manage the money market mandates to deliver on its performance objectives
  • Set and oversee money market model portfolios and assist where needed on income models
  • Manage and oversee cash flow implementation/money market dealing across the portfolio range
  • Drive and provide input to cash and income portfolio strategy and the generation of model portfolios, including:
    • Asset allocation decisions
    • Generate and motivate duration positions
    • Manage yield enhancement strategies
    • Manage credit utilisation across mandates
    • Manage risk through use of derivatives
    • Interest Bearing Research
  • To advance research efforts and improve overall quality and coverage
    • Expand strategies, investable universe and market coverage
    • Drive new yield enhancement research
    • Derivatives research and strategy ideas
    • Team and stakeholder interaction
    • The key objective to work and lead on a collaborative basis, ensuring that the team remains cohesive and successful

  • Collaborate and provide input to the broader investment team, including asset allocation input and general strategy

  • Back-up portfolio management implementation
    • Act as back-up on income fund portfolio management implementation, updating models, trading, compliance and checking
    • Be proactive and assist in making the implementation a success


  • University Degree (Finance / Mathematics /Statistics / Business Science / Actuarial)
  • Relevant Post Graduate qualification
  • Demonstrated excellence in the field of fixed interested research and portfolio management
  • CFA, MBA would be advantageous
  • Computer programming skills would be advantageous


  • 5 -7 years’ experience in fixed interest research and managing cash and income portfolios
