JOB DESCRIPTION | KEY PURPOSE
Provide efficient and effective investment risk management and performance attribution services on all portfolios to the investment team and clients.

Provide investment data/information, quantitative analyses, and other related support services to all areas within the Investment Management business (including business development and client reporting).

Provide meaningful risk analysis and input, and sound data analyses/tics, to support and add value to portfolio managers and investment analysts.

Ensure effective investment compliance and controls are in place, as well as effective processes to duly monitor these.

Keep abreast of developments in the Investment Risk Management, Data Analytics and related spaces to enable continuing enhancements to risk and performance analyses and processes.

Play a key role in ensuring automation/systemisation of investment risk and performance attribution processes and reports.

Able to learn quickly, and grow capability and skills in the area to take on responsibilities and thus competently and effectively support the Head of Investment Risk & Analytics.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Investment risk analysis and reporting.
2. Performance measurement, attribution analysis and reporting.
3. Investment, mandate and trade compliance and monitoring.
4. Ensure effective investment risk controls and limits are in place; and the processes/procedures in monitoring of these.
5. Quantitative analysis relevant to function and as requested by the Risk manager, Chief Risk Officer, other team members and clients.
6. The preparation of relevant reports, presentations, etc. for the weekly Investment Risk and Portfolio Review Committee Meetings.
7. Maintenance and efficient use of risk and performance support systems (e.g. Database/Ocellics, Statpro, Bloomberg, etc.) and investment administration and control systems.
8. Effective compilation and maintenance of composite portfolios for performance, survey and GIPS purposes.
9. Ensure GIPS composites are implemented in line with the intended business requirements.
10. Monitor and ensure compliance with all investment mandates, applicable regulations and legislation, and internal limits and guidelines.
11. Effectively liaise and respond to requests from internal clients and third parties for relevant risk and performance information requests, etc.
12. Monitoring of portfolio alignment to proactively raise consistency issues and avoid performance dispersion.
13. Monitor portfolio exposures, risk and liquidity limits, concentration risks, etc. and be proactive in flagging/raising issues/breaches and ensuring the remedy of these.
14. Support other areas requiring risk and performance measurement / attribution and monitoring services (e.g. client report-backs and new business pitches).
15. Keep abreast of market index and benchmark changes, assessing and reviewing likely impact.
16. Take initiative ito new ideas, methodologies and analytics related to investment risk, performance and portfolio analysis to remain at the cutting edge.
17. Review post-trade compliance reports to ensure no breaches.
18. Support with ensuring the regular review and updating of all Risk policies.
19. Support with maintaining/drafting clear but succinct processes/procedures of all key activities/functions performed by the area (a manual).

DESIRABLE EDUCATION
A relevant degree, preferably a post-graduate qualification (Honours and/or Masters) in the fields of quants, math, stats, risk management, computer science, actuarial, finance, economics, etc.

A candidate with relevant or related prior experience is preferred.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS
Required:

·       Computer literate

·       Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook proficiency.

Advantageous (a plus):

·       Any industry related software/systems knowledge and working experience (e.g. Bloomberg, Statpro, Barra, etc.).

·       Some working knowledge and use of databases (i.e. SQL queries and scripting or other Data Warehouse offerings).

·       Knowledge of any other programming language such as Python, R or C# will be advantageous.
